The
Band: Siouxsie Sioux, Steven Severin, Budgie. Although
Robert Smith does play on this song his commitments with The Cure meant
he did not appear in the video. The video, in keeping with the
lyrics of the song has a very definite theme. A studio performance
on an especially constructed set that utlilises everything that sparkles,
tin foil, metal, stars, etc.... The song starts with splashes of
water hitting the ground and cascading back up. The main action is
centred on Siouxsie, who with the aid of her ring festooned, glittering
elbow length gloves, makes fast angular shapes. The
resulting effect is a blurring trail of light. This is
inter-cut with shots of Severin and Budgie playing their respective
instruments, cutaway shots of tambourines and turning gun barrels and
moving liquid mercury. The highlight is undoubtedly Siouxsie's
jewel encrusted eyelids that when viewed briefly give the impression of
her eyes being wide open.
