ASIDE from fronting pioneering
post-punk outfit Siouxsie and the Banshees for nye on two decades,
Siouxise Sioux is 50 per cent responsible for one of the finest ever
duets, Interlude, on which she delivered a staggering performance
alongside her unlikely muse Morrissey.
Thirteen years on and just into
her fifties, Siouxsie is sounding as good as ever.
The second single to be taken from
her recent Mantaray album, Here Comes that Day is the best Bond theme
that never was.
Brassy and theatrical (save for a lame fade-out), it strongly recalls
and indeed surpasses classic Shirley Bassey.
Majestic.
5/5
