I
hear the sound of distant drums....again. The Sandie Shaw of
yesterday's punk, Siouxsie Banshee delivers her usual atmospheric vocals
over Budgie's lonely percussion.
It's spread over a double-45 soft-porn epic that includes a lame repeat of The Troggs' finest two minutes and ten seconds. Jane Birken was steamier than this. Ian Pye |

Description: | ||
The band: Siouxsie Sioux, Budgie. Siouxsie and Budgie continue the theme of the Wild Things EP cover. The set is black and empty. Lots of close ups of eyes and mouths, a wet look Siouxsie covered in flowers. The editing is fast and includes clever use of freeze frame shots. In fact TV channels steered clear of airing it for fear that the fast editing would induce epileptic fits in their viewers! Debut Creatures video.

Based on a local character found at Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, London . "'Mad Eyed Screamer is about a guy who was at Speaker's Corner on Sundays when I used to go down there, one man in particular that I remember who was just crazed, obsessive and quite frightening." (Siouxsie) Source: Smash Hits 10/81.

So Unreal Lyrics | ||
|
||
What can I do, I know
they've gotten to you You're talking in a
balloon, in this tidy room What can I say, what can I
say You're so ideal, you're
never down at heel |

The novel The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin. "It's about meeting someone again who you've known a few years ago, and they're totally conventional and all they care about is their washing machine." (Siouxsie) Source: Smash Hits 10/81.
